"Please, can anyone explain to me how to perform one of Akira's moves, the one that says 'K+G (release G 1frame)', it looks like a jumping knee kick (Akira style) ?

Well, from your post you already know how its done. You tap K+G and release the G part 1 frame after its pressed in.

A frame goes by incredibly fast, so the chances of doing the move consistently isnt great unless youve got lightning fast fingers.

It takes practice. Lots and lots of practice. I can do the move like 1 in 30 times, and ive pretty much given up on the idea of using it in battle.

Ive done it...Once.
I kept trying, then I got so fed up that I smacked my hand on the buttons and he did it. I was like...wow...then I couldn't do it again.

This move is almost impossible to do on a joypad. I don't understand why Sega didn't release a joystick with the game itself. because a joypad really sucks playing Akira. in the arcade I can do the DLC pretty well, but I never could do it once on my joypad . I am just to slow with the joypad to do the last move of that combo. also in Japan I have played with the joystick that you can buy . the only problem was that is was sold out everywhere!

Uhm you're using the pad, then what you have to do is, hit and hold kick with your ring finger and at the same time your index finger kinda BOUNCES off the guard button. Know what I mean? Your index finger should have BOING reflex to do it. Have your middle finger extend upwards as to not acidentally bounce it off punch during execution. Relax and release. Be sure to hold kick! That should raise your success rate.

OMG, BOING?

IMO, it's a really useless move in battle. I don't understand the purpose of it since the consistancy of execution is fairly low, by the time you pull it off in battle, 3/4 of your life bar will be gone. But BOING is good advice.

Well I'd got it out a total of 6 times but they were all by accident. But I can tell you that it happens when I try to do the [K]+[G][2] too hard in the begininng of DLC.

Like a spring. You know that Akira players hold the future in their hands? You should be able to hit the knee whenever you want to. Then you can deal out 75% damage. Practice it, until you can do it consistently. Then play 10 to 20 matches against 2 or 3 people and just try to use the knee effectively. If you miss execution then just input f+p imedietly after you executed, and seen the failed attempt. I usually just do knee, f+p in succession. If in the case the attempted knee has failed an elbow will come out in its place. It's kinda like a DTE excepx in this case it's called buffering. It's wise not to have abused many mid attacks. If you have you may instead input d/f+p+k or go for a crouch dash and throw because more than likely you'll catch them standing during this time frame.

It's not that useful even when you can do it 50% or better. I only use it for beating rising attacks. Mostly to show off. Or after b+pkg LP inashi: knee, P, shrm, dblplm=the same damage as SPoD and pounce. So that's just for fun.

I am by no means an akira player, but I remember hearing that his knee is one of the best(Jeffrey having the best knee in my opinion) I could be wrong.

Akiras knee is better becuase it recovers at -9 and the only option is to throw afterwards. I think u can counterattack every other jumping knee in the game with anything that comes out at 12 frames or faster(mainly [P][K]).

Yeah, Akira does have the best knee in the game due to it's recovery. The reason I don't find it to be that useful is because Akira doesn't really need a launcher to do most of his damage. So on the same note I don't find the shrm to be super important either. I mostly only use shrm for mC purposes. The knee is better than shrm (as is the yoho) in some mC situations, but I don't think anyone can do MC dodge~knee well enough on reaction to make it very reliable.

I know some, and its a reliable option to Evade- side trowing / BodyChecking / float starter.

well Neo, I guess you haven't seen anyone use a pad OMAHA STYLE. I can do Akira's knee, DLC, SPOD, NEW TRIPLE COMBO all on a ps2 pad. It really is not that hard to do those things. It's all in the way you hold the pad. I will admit, I can only SPOD on the left side though /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

Dude you can do the DLC on the Pad? What lay out do you use? My thumb is still not fast enough.

I just tossed a Player file on my memory card for Akira, and I set the controller up in edit file so that triangle is a guard too. Now, an easy way to see what you're doing in Command Training is to set it up so that it shows input in graph format -- each notch is 1 frame (AFAIK). Now, when you go to do the move, tap triangle with the tip of your thumb and circle with the joint, and raise the top of your thumb ASAP. When I do it this way I'm accurate to within 2-3 notches (note that I've done the knee once), so it seems that it's the easiest way of doing the move.

How to get maximum damage form HGB+P - b,f,f+P+K by uk_guy
Mo VF4 Zone Playa in London /versus/images/icons/wink.gifgathered mostly from watching Mucky's Emperor Akira and Kyasao's 10th Dan Akira. Two renowned VF4 players that rule.
BTW- Their ranking is from arcade battle, not Kumite :
HCB+P - (tip)WALK 2 steps towards opponents left shoulder - b,f,f+P+K
For combos like ShRm - P - ShRm - DbPm do a BACKWARDS crouch modified DbPm.
i.e. df,df,f+P+K - P - df,df,f+P+K - db,db,b,f+P
For combos after b,d+P+G, f,b+P+G,P+K or d+P+G try extending the DbPm crouch modification.
i.e. b,d+P+G - df,df,f+P - db,db,db,b,f+P
After df+P+G - (tip) df+P dash as CLOSE to the opponet as possible. If they delay their rising kick or you have supreme timing you can hit them with HCB+P for MC into bodycheck trick for 2/3rd Bar!! (Kyasao seems to do this huge damage move all the time!)
Shrm (Wall Hit) - HCB+P - b,f,f+P+K
DbPm (Wall Hit) - DbPm
db,f+P+G: If opponent TR you can often hit them with b,f+P+K
or df+P if they stay down. gg /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

Also, if you get a wall stagger with [2_],[6]+[P], you can immediately follow with HCB+[P]>[3][3]+[P] > [4][6][6]+[P] for HUGE damage (over 50%).
