Ok, before you flame me, yes I am aware that there are several threads dedicated to Akira. But I'm lost /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif I'm not a VF4 noob, I'm versitle with every character EXCEPT Akira. Could someone give me some basic tips and guidence on where to begin? I'm really interested in playing him, and I've noticed that he is an expert character.

Akira, I can't even tell you how much your guide is helping me out. All the terms you defined helped me understand alot more. I'm working on perfecting my timing and buffering right now. Thanks alot!

Glad to be a help. I decided to write that guide as I'd got in touch with loads of new Akira players from this site and was helping them out with PMs all the time. I found myself explaining many things over and over so instead I thought it better to get down "a new players guide" to him as it were to allow new people to the game to play him.

    Cheers for the feedback,

    Chris

I even "made" a float combo. [4][6][P], [6][6][P], [2][K][G][6][K][4][6][P] It's sorta frustrating trying to get it off on heavier chars, but it's still really effective and flashy.

ermmm yeah I wouldn't say it a guaranteed combo or anything and it can probably be TR'd out of. Its good that your'e showing interest in combos though heres a big list of them:

Oh and [4][6][P] isn't really a float starter its called a beatdown attack (on which ABC can be used otb...that is on the bounce). Akiras float starters are generally his knee, yoho and shrm. Keep having fun though!

I was talking on IRC last night with a couple of people. It came to my attention that alot of Akira players don't know that [4][6][P]+[K] is his primary weapon. Why, I will explain. When an opponent TECHROLLS or QUICK RISES, if you do [4][6][P]+[K] at the right timing, the point where it reaches them right as they stand or can move. They HAVE TO BLOCK IT. They can't dodge it and they can not interupt it. Learn the TIMING for this and you are on your way to making your akira stronger. The timing is different depanding on which combo or situation that leads to your opponent techrolling or quick rising. That's my best tip for anyone who wants to learn him and make him strong. Anymore tips use SEARCH I am sure you can find some really nice stuff, or PM me sometime. It's to early to write a strat guide for him.

Are you talking about fully charged [4][6][P]+[K]?

I think he means normal speed.

I view it as Akira's version of a crescent, except with really strict timing. You can put [4][6][P]+[K] infront of them immediately after their TR is finished, before they can do anything. It works best after a hitting with a fast recovering knock-down move such as [2_][6][P]~[P]. You're also in a good position to use it after his [4][3][P]+[G] and [4][2][P]+[G] throw followups.

normal speed! no charging involved, just do it at right timing and they have no choice but to DEFEND!

I figured it was normal speed but I wanted to be sure.

I'll have to try it after MC SDE [3][3][6][P][P] since the opponent can TR after the palm hits. Without checking, I think they can get up too fast for DFS to be effective.

DRE, do you know any good float moves or strategies against block whores? I'm still working on the shoulder, I gotta get buffering down. Dre, or Akira, or anyone with any good advice would be help.

Ummm..... isn't this just any mid attack on TR with any character? The only exception here is that Akira's move is half circular and knocksdown on hit. But other characters easily have half circular mid attacks. Well, anyways.. I agree it's one of Akira's stronger techniques against TR, possibly one of the strongest in the game. Regardless, any character can apply pressure guessing game on TR with mid attacks.

I'm just begining with a character, don't expect me to know how to counter everything. Thanks =)

Against techrollers, it's good to alternate between:

    [4][6][P]+[K] (or delayed [4][6][P]+[K])

    [6][4][P]+[G]

    [3][3][6][P]~[P]

    [P], [6][6][P]

    [3][3], throw (or [P] [3][3], throw)

    [K]~[G], throw

[K]~[G], elbow (or [K]~[G], followed by almost anything)

and of course, SPoD (this is risky, so don't use this too much)

SpyMobb, he wasn't speaking to you. You can tell by the "re:Konjou_Akira" after the subject of his post.

No big deal. Just wanted to let you know.
