... /versus/images/icons/blush.gif wish I could have posted this anon, but wtf. here is goes. What are my best rising options to avoid expert level okizeme hell ? We have a few people here in NYC at www.chinatownfair.com arcade that seem to be able to read my mind...after they knock me down and I try to rise I get hammered repeatedly. Thx in advance for all input. Note: this is the n00b board so keep the flames off. /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif thx ...and yup, I used the search feature and went back three months and only found ( exactly one month ago today) the other side of this coin...the aggressor killer side of the rising question. Finally, today is my wedding aniversary so have mercy and don't flame me today perogi-san. /versus/images/icons/wink.gif I'm the King of scrubs! - (hear Kid Rock scream this real loud) /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

Normally, players would try to Okizeme a couple of times to force you into just standing up to be thrown if they were successfull with it. So some decent solutions would be to stand up and TE. Or to be secured from both throws and linear/half circular attacks, get up and EDTE, or even RDTE.

Other simple measures would be to delay your rising attacks, roll sideways and attack, or sometimes even stand up and land a side kick or a quicker attack of your own (You can get an MC by doing this sometimes). Try whatever that works to make them refrain from Okizemeing /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

rdte? hmm... TE=throw escape I can't stand up I'm getting my ass kicked ...not thrown just smacked down again and punched repeatedly like a rag doll. This Akira player from the most evil VF Clan in Seoul smiles as he drains my pathetic life with repeated okizeme ( rising attack) counter-attacks. He seems to stick to me like glue and I feel like a cat toy being tossed between paws. I'm getting pretty dizzy. Nan also does this to me with his Kage on occasion... this is the board for n00bs and n00bs aren't expected to know what a schimigle or a rdte represents. Thx for the attempted help but either I just don't get it or we are on two different pages here.... /versus/images/icons/frown.gif /versus/images/icons/crazy.gif /versus/images/icons/confused.gif ( nycat thinks he is seriously fokd ) for the sake of all the n00bs and idiots like me please do not use abreviations without first spelling out what you are abreviating to avoid misunderstandings. I thought IMF= International Monetary Fund and then I realized "it" refers to Iron Monkey Fist which is the handle ( name) of one of our VF4 players in one of the very evil Florida Clans. Before you know it I will be face to face with the evil jeffry of AdamYuki who dishes out okizemi attacks like Mc Donald's dishs out french fries /versus/images/icons/frown.gif

Well, im a pretty decent okizeme guy in my area (which isnt saying too much, since the competition isnt so great), but one thing i have learned very quickly, and something my opponents are learning far too slowly, is that getting up with a kick ([K] or [2] + [K]) almost gaurantees that you will get your ass kicked.

The only times to use those are against scrubs, people recklessly charging in without any proper plan etc. My vanessa rips people apart when they try the rising kicks. Techrolling and quickrising are your best options. Also, keep taking a look at video clips and watch how high ranking players choose to get up.

Well I don't see why there would be problems with getting up if you are not using rising kicks. In my first paragraph, what I meant by getting up is simply by pressing [G] or [P] to stand in place and be able to guard, yet I didn't mention that case of just guarding. That's why I said some people would try to land a throw when they realise you are not rise-kicking; they would think you will just get up normally if you eat a couple Okizeme attempts before that. However, you can punch, low punch, or pretty much try any quick attack to interrupt their possible throw attempt.

Or you can get up and Evade Double Throw escape, or Reverse Double Throw Escape, in case they decide to attack inspite of you getting up without a rise kick, or if you are not sure whether they'll throw or attack. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

Again, there is always just getting up normally without kicking like ETP said. It all depends on how you see your opponent react, and how they see you react to their attempts. /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

    Re: OMG ShinZ playing blindfolded!

ETP check out the new 10 and a half minute vid at www.nomercy.wo.to under the team battle icon on top right of site. The exact move that keeps me so twisted is executed by our good friends in Korea at a 3 on 3 random team battle vid. Just under: [IMG] the picture of ShinZ playing blind-folded is the A7 vs B3 featuring LeeJang, ShinZ and his younger brother moonsuk vs. mettal-butter, Hadoken and another player I do not know. Featured are Lion,Akira, Shun and Jacky. Check it out when you have a chance and lemme know what your thoughts are with respect to countering this bad /versus/images/icons/mad.gif oki death move that good Akira players like to dish out. thx agn. /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

Please tell me you are not talking about [3]+[P] . Thats the only okizeme move i saw the akira pull off repeatedly. Its just plain garaunteed after certain moves. You can try to quickly roll to the left or right, and of course, try techrolling when its allowed to avoid it. But other than that, you just take the damage. Every character has a similar move, like Vanessas [3]+[K] soccer kick.

If you are talking about another move, i would appreciate if you actually NAMED the move. There are movelists on this site, and im sure your akira playing friends could tell you the name of it. Also, you could have just given me the movie link instead of that detailed description.

That down strike doenst stop you from getting up, it just takes a little extra life from you. There is no reason why you shouldnt be able to rise to your feet after it.

If i have made a mistake, and you were referring to a different move, then im sorry. Please post the name of the move, and and example situation in that case and ill respond.

" Every character has a similar move" Hmm, what are the moves that set-up Lion and van to have such an advantage?
I'm sorry ETP. I gave the wrong link. Correct link: No Mercy VF Club Akira winds up and then zooms at his opponent with a double fist over fist side punch that ends in a big C (visual look). I didn't have time to research this myself last night as the entire family was over and my two nephews were kicking arse with Jacky and Vanessa in an impressive (chest swells with pride) Iron Man battle against constant challenges. We were having a going away party for my son who is moving to Chicago for studies in morgage banking. He drove off this AM as I was preparing to leave for my office(sigh). I will figure it out today.. the hard way; as my Akira playing bud will be there to corner me and beat my butt against the walls again this AM. Thx for the succinct advise. The vids are really worthy of a good look for Shun Di, Jacky Bryant, Lion Rafale and Akira Yuki players.. The wrong URL in original post goes to a wrestling site, doh. /versus/images/icons/crazy.gif /versus/images/icons/confused.gif /versus/images/icons/frown.gif Your humble scrubbness, nycat;)

    Re: OMG ShinZ playing blindfolded!

dont worry, i found the site the last time, and even found the clip. You could have just linked me directly to the clip, or at least told me when in the 10 minute clip the move occured, because its not like the akira did it alot. for future reference it is "Double-Fisted Strike" a charge attack that is executed by [4][6][P]+[K].

Anyway, if he is overly fond of doing that move, try just staying down until he executes it, and then kicking him for a minor counter. It wont hit you while you are on the ground after all.

Also, if you find you are eating this alot during techrolling, stop techrolling all the time.

Remember aswell that this is a mid hit, so if you are blocking which crouching, you will get hit. So stand up to block it.

You cannot block the move when its fully charged, so if you see him charging the move up, dodge the silly thing and sidethrow and then ground hit him.

There is no reason why you cant just get up normally and block it, unless its fully charged. Techrolling is difficult because you are momentarily crouching during the recovery, and thus the mid hit can rock you. and as i mentioned, getting up with one of the two kicks can be too easily avoided, or interupted by your opponents attacks, and shouldnt be done all the time.

I'm really late jumping in on this, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents worth.

I rarely techroll against Akira, and if I do, I stand up and BLOCK. You've got a split second to find out if he's going to throw you or not. I'd say Akira DEFINITELY has the edge on whacking tech-rollers. Maybe it's just shit luck for the last year, but he's got some ugly crap.

Seriously though, NYCAT, it really depends on your opponent.

Akira - just stay down...[3][P] isn't that painful, and most of Akira's game is countering you. DOn't give them the chance.

Jacky - really hard to tell. He's got so many options. A mid crescent, throws, lightning testicles, and all that rap

Lion - watch the crescents. Low & mid. [8][K] is always a fond one that will nail you if you low kick on your way up.

Uh... I won't go into everyone. But for Akira, if you're having problems, JUST STAY DOWN!

many thx to both ETP and GP-san for taking the time to help me with rising against an accomplished Akira. GP-san, here in NYC I've seen a few disgusting, stupid, barbaric affronts against gentleman VF players and the best always let it go... your acceptance at an arcade is more important than one cheater card switching bastard. One elbow from CREWny would send most men to the hospital or morgue, but he always maintains an ice-cold resolve to be the gentleman /versus/images/icons/wink.gif which makes him a winner to all in NYC VF community. You are a diplomat in more ways than you may realize too. Now /versus/images/icons/wink.gif I must get back to character and stance specific kata hiro-san shared for Lion that AdamYuki pulls off with aplomb.
