Has anyone used a Hitbox with VF?

I imagine it would make many of the dashing / crouchdashing / evading much easier. Anyone have any experience with it?

Not yet but I have thought about experimenting with one as well. I'll have to ask around if I know anyone with a hitbox first. [IMG]

I think Wolf could benefit with fastest input throws using a hitbox. [IMG]

I have a hitbox and 2 regular sticks - I tried the hitbox in other games and couldn't get used to it.

I'm gonna try it with VF a bit tonight

theres no way in hell i can get used to this after years of training the brain with regular sticks. from pad to stick is a piss easy transition, but...THIS?? its a total mind fuck, i have no idea how some people get used to this. amazing.

How very odd. I've never heard of that.

I built mine because I do a lot of stuff on a computer keyboard, and I also play piano, so I figured my fingers might be better at buttons than a stick. I used it a bit with a few games, but wound up going back to a stick because it was less strain on my fingers.

I used it a bit last night with VF. A few thoughts:

    Pros:
Everything is much more consistent. If I need to input 3346+P, I can get it 100% of the time with no missed or extra inputs.
There's no favor to sides. Sometimes on a stick I have trouble doing 811 compared to 833, but on a hitbox they're both just as easy.
Crouch dashing is just as easy as regular dashing, which is nice.

    Cons:
Dashing is not easy. Any 66 input feels like it takes longer than it would on a stick, and if I try to input it too quickly, I never actually release the button, so I only get one input.
Probably just getting used to it, but when recovering from a stagger, I find it much harder. I'm so used to spinning the stick until the stagger is almost over that it's hard to go from mashing to pressing nothing with the same thought.
Again, it's tiring on the ol' fingers. Part of it is that to get the quick 66 or 44 (which is a huge part of VF), you need to hit the button very hard and fast, which is just a strain long-term.

I don't think I'll be using it for VF, but it certainly has some advantages. I think it would have been extremely useful for the era of E4TEG.

Very cool. What kind of buttons are on the hitbox? I'm guessing they're Sanwa or Seimitsu.

I have Happs on my main x360 stick and looking to switch them out. [IMG]

Mine have sanwa buttons, but I converted it myself from an 'arcade-in-a-box' stick - the surface was particle board that I could easily drill through.

It will probably work if every fighting game after you got used to it.

Still I would bans those things from tournaments...

No need to ban unless you can prove that it offers an actual, unfair advantage.

And since VF uses a Guard button & doesn't have to worry about cross-ups like 2D (or stepping breaking the system like in Tekken), I don't think there's any proof.

I don't know of any event that's banned them. Things like standing 720s are hard to ban because you COULD do that on a stick if you were fast enough, it's just easier on a hitbox.

The only thing I can think of that would cause a ban are glitches that might happen if you press down and up at the same time, which is impossible on a stick. I don't know of any game where this might happen though, I think it just 'favors' one of the directions (like if you hold left and right, the game things you're holding right)
