I am having trouble with this move too, but for the first two of the three-part moves, they pretty much have to be done instantly as one, ie no delay at all.

For the last part, you can delay it slightly before hitting /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

But practising this move will be well worth it though, especially since it eats quite a large chunk of your opponent's health, not to mention looking slick in the process.

It's pretty easy to get to grips with these moves once you get a feel for the timing.

It's not a 'On Hit' only kind of move right?

I ask this cause the only time I managed to pull off the whole /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif//forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is when I landed the first hit. If it's on block, I can't seem to pull off the rest.

im having a huge problem pulling this move off too. so driftsilencer, you said perform the first 2 instantly with no delay? il try that cus i wait a bit to try to execute it on hit rather than what you said. hope it works man! this move/combo looks so sick!

My bad, I didn't really word it correctly.

Yes, the whole throw 'chain' only works if the first /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif connects. After the first part, the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif must be done immediately.

In a non-guaranteed situation, it may be difficult to confirm whether or not the first hit lands, so I always do the second part regardless. It is the third and final part ( /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif) , which can be slightly delayed.

It just takes practise and practise to get a feel for the timing. Keep at it! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

The combination is done so fast, that even if it's blocked you still have time to use defensive techniques. The whole input speed is just the same as SPoD's so there is no hit checking here. You just do the combo, and if it hit, you laugh, if it doesn't you input ETE,ETEG, and other shit you manage to pull off. Remember that on block you are basically fucked, -13 is not a good option for you, and even if you hit, but don't continue with the input, it's -8...

The only thing you can do with such moves (SPoD, Basara) is to just learn to do them as fast as you can....then try to do it faster /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

SPOD is the nickname for the move that belongs to Akira, but is pretty much the same type of execution as Goh's move (Basara I guess it's called). And yeah, it stands for super palm of doom.

Anbujustin is correct. The first attack for Akira's special is called the stun palm. The complete combo is referred to as Stun Palm Of Doom. Its been called that since VF2.

For Goh's special attack, the first attack is called Basara and the complete combo is just Basara or Basara combo.

Actually it's been called 'Hougeki Unshin Soukoshou' since VF2. Stun Palm of Doom is just a western nickname for the move. Just like Gouki's Shungokusatsu has been nicknamed "Raging Demon" and "Firecracker". From what I understand Hougeki Unshin Soukoshou translates as something to do with 'Master of threading the needle bombardment' which gives the impression he's mastered a devestating, intricate move.

Anyway Teveb/DriftSilencer/anbujustin, the Stun Palm and ShinShouSanGou are not that hard to do once you get used to it. It's not how quickly you input the command, it's just the timing. Make sure after pressing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, you press /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif and then time the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif for when the gut hit thrusts into the opponent and then just hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif//forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif afterwards. A lot of advice on here is saying keep practicing until you can do it very quickly, that's wrong really, just make sure you learn when the attack connects, because it's at that very second you should be pressing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. Once you've got that bit down the 3rd hit is easy (the stun palm was a lot harder if VF2,3 and 4 but since Evo it's far easier).

Maybe it's just me, but I find inputting the Basara requires no special timing, just input everything directly.

Every English speaking person refers to it as SPOD. Even the few Japanese people (who spoke in English) I have conversed with over the years refer to it as SPOD.

Let me guess, I bet you call Ryu & Kens hurricane kick the Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif
Sure, that is the official name but every English speaking person refers it to hurricane kick because its so much easier to say.

So for compliance sake, can we refer Goh's special command attack as Basara?

I have heard it called Raging Demon and sometimes Hell Murder but I have NEVER heard it called Firecracker. Is that a UK thing or did you make that up yourself? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

With the Basara I just input the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif and the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif as one move with no delay. If the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif part hits I input the last part, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif(or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif ) /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. As long as the first hit connects, the rest will too. Basically you're only hit-checking the first hit of the combo, after that it doesn't matter.

I love this move. It's nasty to pull off if you get the frames but man its beautiful. Is there a way to be able to do it with out conditioning? Nah, just don't get nervous in the middle of the match. Let the hatred flow through you. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif jk

I have been using goh since I seen him and I like this move as well but I think the practice times it takes to master and the percentage chance to use it are not worth the rewards so I took it completely out of my arsenal better to learn his cath grabs.

If you want practice for this move:

Go to dojo and set the opponent to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif after blocking, use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif then input basara.

Other than MC /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (how?!), after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is the only guaranteed way to get it to land.

Using /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif: Observe your opponent's habits, and eventually you might find his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif rhythm, this is when you use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif.

It's hard to do, but it's fun and it's stylish.
