Feck's VF vids - Test vids for now, need help.

Well I bought a PVR to finally start getting my saved replays up. I'm just uploading test vids for now, trying to get the audio and visual quality right. Once i've done that i'll start uploading matches and maybe a mod can rename the thread for me.

The original recording was recorded at 720p in MP4 format and 2 channel audio. Please excuse any poor play in this match, it's an old replay from when the game first came out.

Test Video 1 - This one was converted to avi before uploading to youtube but the visual quality seemed way off from the original recording.

Test Video 2 - I went back and just uploaded the original file, no converting and I can't really tell the difference.

I really can't tell the difference between the two, but the file size was much smaller on the second vid. If the quality is ok on that one i'd rather upload in that format. If anyone can offer any advice, i'd really appreciate it. The PVR is really simple to use but being new at this i'm lost with all the settings.

Also if there's anything else I can add like the in game commentary, annotations on the vid or whatever to make the vids better then let me know.

I'd go with the second file type due to the smaller size. I didn't notice a difference in quality between the two videos myself. Granted, I didn't watch them simultaneously, but I think that any visual difference would be pretty neglible.

I can`t see any difference between them. So you might as well stick with the 2nd setting. Keep em coming.

I would co-sign with the others. I played both videos simultaneously from beginning to end and the visual quality in both are virtually the same. The only difference I can see is that the bottom screen shows a slightly brighter image which is noticeable looking at the muddy water flowing in both videos. However, the difference in brightness is so small that it's really negligible, as Libertine pointed out.

I'm thinking the second vid too, the first seems to have audio that's slightly off and the difference in file size was quite vast (first vid was nearly 500mb, second about 225mb).

I'll leave the thread as it is for tonight to see if anyone else can throw in anything that would be helpful then i'll get to uploading matches properly from tomorrow.

If the original was recorded as an MP4 anyway, then converting that MP4 file into AVI (which is just a different file container) will do absolutely nothing regarding its video and audio quality.

Always stick to the original recording if possible.

2nd Video didn't have an quality degradation so if that 1 was smaller then go with that.

Again thanks for the help guys [IMG]

I'm currently in the process of capturing all the matches so I can upload them all in bulk but ran across a few problems.

I'm getting disc read error when going to view a lot of these replays. A lot of them are really old so i'm thinking the data might have corrupted as i've done multiple hard drive transfers in the last few years. The only other thing I can think of that's causing it is that I no longer have the item packs installed, so i'll re-download them and see if that changes things.

I've transferred loads of times to different hard drives. I actually lost some of my replays so that might be the problem.

Yeah i'll look into it or ask someone here, there's probably a ton of things I could do to make the vids better.

I know i'm pretty poor at editing the timeline and trimming bits off, the program i'm using doesn't seem to allow to scroll through the timeline frame by frame [IMG]

Yeah the Akira vs Pai one and the rest got messed up, I had to rush out and looks like my PC restarted while they was uploading. I'll get back to uploading them again.

Ok, if you look at my latest vid you'll see i'm still having serious trouble getting the audio in sync. it's strange cause it's ok after the first half of the vid.

Also, I haven't changed anything since those original recordings so I have no idea what could be causing this, gonna have a good look into this tonight.

EDIT: After attempting some matches with Marly, only to get a disc read error. I got the feeling these audio issues were happening cause of my VF disc being in poor condition.

Just uploaded a quick Rock Band vid to see if that has any audio issues and it was fine, so guess I need a new copy of VF [IMG]

Cheers to Kruza for checking the RB3 vid.

I think it's because of Darthy! He is trolling your video!! Just kidding:)

Well, maybe you can try to install entire VF game/data into hard drive first. I mean it's kind of weird if it's caused by disc error.

Btw, the quality is very good, except that unsync part! It's good to see people would like to spend their time uploading some videos!
