Differences btw. VF4EVO and VF5???

    Hey guys, I'm still waiting on the 360 version so I re-bought VF4Evolution for the PS2.

    Any tips on what I should or shouldn't use as compared to what the latest character does? (ex. have they nerfed certain moves, strategies?)

    On Evo there's no throw clash so the same reverse nitaku game doesn't apply.

    Getting a knee in the head when trying to throw him wasn't fun. He can't do that so much anymore.

    I haven't played Jeff in VF5 that much, but isn't his knee a jumping attack and thus unclashable? Or am I wrong....

    simply means any MOVE that is GUARDED by the opponent.

    for example,

    wolf's F+P "ON BLOCK" leaves him at a -6 frame disadvantage, which is pretty safe.

    "safe" means you cannot be punished after your "safe" move has been blocked.

    ....unless ur a scrub =D

    After playing around with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif the move has grown on me. It does take 23 frames to execute, which sucks, but
    - On block Jeffry is even, so he'll be safe with a backdash
    - On hit Jeffry has a side nitaku situation (throw cannot be ducked)
    - On counter hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is guaranteed

    Also, reverse nitaku does still exist in VF5 but only when you think/know the opponent is going for a delay attack or throw.

    There is nothing wrong with buying VFEVO. It's a quicker way to learning the VF system at a very cheap price /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    Nice to see this site back. The wait is killing me for the 360 version, but I'm still plugging away at Evo!

    Any advice from the regs here on certain things I should/shouldn't be working on?

    Kinda vague; be more specific and I'll gladly give some advice (though what mine is worth is up to you and the community; i.e. nothing).

    Realize that in +1 to +6 does not give you nitaku and mixing up between throw and mid is not very effective.

    If you play someone good, use dash/crouch dash to throw or OM P/K or try backdash versus abare.

    Understand the properties of sideturned situaitons so you don't end up taking damage you don't need to and you can therefore yield damage when the opportunity arises.

    Practice Fuzzy Guarding (#1) and Throw Escaping, Evade Throw Escape Guard, and Throw Escape Guard.

    Practice stance specifc combos, they remain the same concept in VF5.

    Practice struggling out of a stagger, this can save you in certain match ups.

    Practice telling the animation of moves such as slow low attacks and circular moves. Makes it easier to block.

    Practice hit checking VERY quickly so you don't waste a frame (unless it is your intention to delay).
