deus ex is a fantastic game, my favorite pc game of 2000. interesting that you have to play it for an english class, lol, but perhaps it might be due to the fact that there are a lot of interesting conspiracy theories in the game: echelon, area 51, alien sightings, virus/cure sleaze, templars, illuminati, triads, majestic 12, cloning... and of course, there are tons of material written about each of these topics. there are also plenty of literary references to neil gaiman and g.k. chesterton within the game. good stuff.

MY Friend was in the military class at school(i think is RCT or someting)and he had to make a project about the goverment so he just put most of his stuff from this game.Kind of makes you wonder if all that is true cause he got the best grade.

Thank god i dont go to school that often

Goro the game is a FPS with RPG you have to LV up your augmentation's to jump high, lift crates, have X ray vision ETC.....But if its for the PS2 youll spend half of the period waiting for loadings /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Dues Ex did alot of things right - it had the good FPS elements, a good leveling system (although not great in my opinion), and GREAT characters. I think the two things it brought to the genre though were -
Having the multiple ways of completing an objective (not too new but done very well).
The Real Life factor. Although the story is clearly fiction so much of the story and the characters (and even the levels) have a great relation to real life situations. If you expect them to act a certain way then they probably will. Things like the conspiracy theories, the maybe future technologies, the economics and each character's unique story all made it feel fantastic. I think the game was a masterpiece.

Didn't think too kindly of the engine though, thought it was quite clunky in parts. Still Deus Ex 2 looks like it's going to be even better, let's hope they keep the magic.

Deus Ex is a superb game IMHO.The things that go in with the plot and the constant openness to the game play was a breath of fresh air.The screens for invisible war look imense as ( off topic I know ) doe half lifes 2 which is another monumental FPS.( Though I suppose Deus Ex isn't like a full on FPS there are many facets to its brilliance ).

The whole paranoia was a brilliant element ot the gameplay too as was the ability to chose how you wanted to approach a situation eg hacking security, sniping down guards, running in all guns blazing etc. paying off secondary characters for info,,,Plus the revelations at the end all add to the amazing story.

I know in my opinion is the best FPS ever made the only thing that Ruins it are the graphics. But the gameplay is great it has lots of dialoge. Not to mention that you can custumize your own weapons. And you can use swords that Very rare in a FPS game.

Yes I've just started playing agin recently. The amount of weapons in it is huge ( I love the Dragons Tooth sword /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif ) as well as you say the ability to customise your favourite or most useful ones. I have the PS2 version in which the levels have been made slightly smaller and yes the graphics can be ropey in places but all in all its one of my favourite games by far.

Ohh heres a tip on enabling all augmentations:
In hong Kong when you get to the gray death generator(the place you had to access by jumping into a pipe it was blocked by a car accident when you first arrived in HK)youll see 3 Aug Canisters and another one under it .Go open their containers and get them with those 4 Can you should have all the slots full of Can.Just activate em all at the same time and whala you have all the Aug you chose enabled(you must activate em all at the same time or some of em will disapear)

Oh right nice one. Hong Kong is by far my favourite level. The musics brilliant as are the objectives you have to do. I'm up to sinking the ship in dock part again now, sneaking round the ship and that. After I've got one of the different three possible endings this time I'm gonna play again on Realistic to get the last ending I'm missing.

Thats funny cause im on the Ship level with the realistic dificulty too,I had to use the ending Cheat(beat the game and get adiferent an ending then load the last save and get another ending ETC...) too get the 2 endings at once i now only need Dark ending now.

Yeah, I wanna get all three endings clocked before I get Invisible War. Looks amazing. I was thinking of cheating with my last save but I'd run out of ammo in most of my decent guns. Besides I loved the story so much that its not boring going through it again upgrading different skills.
