    Desperate Akira Move Help.

I simply cannot do akiras dragon lance combo. I'm about ready to stop using him now as I find it to be a staple move when doing juggles =(
Someone help? I can do SpoD and Axe Blade Combo (yes I know axe is easy) fluidly. I'm playing vf4 vers C (evo will come to Sweden next month) @60hz. Is this something that simply cannot be done like the knee or what? I'm freakin desperate over here =/
What I'm looking for are mainly tips. It helped alot when I read a post on SpoD and how I should glide from forward to towards on the final move and so on but since I can do the Dragon Lance in Slowmotion and so on - I think I just can't performe it fast enough. I have not connected this in training mode ONCE in normal speed people.....

I practiced for 6 months before I could do it consistently. There is no easy way to do it, practice is the only way. The way I learned was pressing

    [3][K]+[G] [6][P] quite fast, then pressing [4][6][6] [P]+[K] like I normally would.
It's crucial that you remember to press [4].
Try not to rush out the commands, just put them in nice and easy.

I found it a lot easier to do the move when I was concentrating och relaxing my hands, fingers and shoulders. Tension slows you down a lot and it takes more energy.
Also, try to use small stick movements, that is important.

You'll get it dude, just like netron said practice is the only way to gettting the DLC and I agree. If I can do DLC and Spod with a pad you should be able to do it with a stick no problem.

AkiraZero, he use to use a pad too and he did the DLC with no problem what so ever, /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif so gave him a PM and maybe he has some advise that can help you out dude.

IMO, both moves are easier with a pad...

don't stress bro... I just went from Jacky to akira and finally got the spod to work for the first time ever... (I must admit I surprised myself with akira) Akira is based a lot on technique which is why I suck with him... I'm used to tekken where I can cheat a little and button mash sometimes... Precision is the key...

Basicly...... stop whining and try harder. Aiight - I'll do just that. Gonna try in training mode a couple of hours then.

You should try enabling the button command display thing in training mode so you can see exactly where you're going wrong - it's really helpful for things like this.

i just picked up akira to play around with and i'm also a pad user, but with that command info on it just frustrated me more! it would show me as not pressing the direction and button at the same time but the move would come out fine. I can do the DLC and his other combos almost all of the time, i found with the DLC that it needs to be FAST! like very fast and you should get it no problem. But my problem is doing it from the other side and doing it from a good set up. I just can't get my mind to process all that info that quick while concentrating on a fight..

Free training mode is always the easiest way to practice a combo or move that needs work. One thing that I came up with was to, perform every move from the one player side in command training, then load up the file from the second player side and try it. If you can perform the list to the fullest on both sides, just practice the combos in training mode and you should be ready to perform them in matches.

In the VF4 manual it says, "Akira will require alot of time in training mode," this is no BS right here, playing Akira is hard, but training mode is your friend here.

Also, play some Kumite/Quest mode, and then read the advice and see what you need work on for Akira.

ya but i dont really know if want to invest all that time in my akira. I just felt like playing around with him to see his abilities and such and to further my finger dexterity and stuff with his crazy moves. I'm just happy that i can do all his moves from one side, it will help out with my other characters that aren't as juggle intensive..

I`m also a pad player. I find the most important thing, that you can do bodycheck [4][6][6][P]+[K], decently fast, and from there on, it`s easy. If I where you, I would practice a bit more on doing BC quickly, and then try doing DLC once more...

    Re: Desperate Akira Move Help.

you're exactly right the first part of the DLC is SIMPLE but the timing on the BC is really fast, especially for me on the 2P side. I find myself tapping back an extra time and sometimes pressing forward too much. akira's a really fun player to fool around with but my two main characters Aoi and Shun are still not nearly strong enough so i really shouldn't put effort into learning akira cuz that would just make me forget how to use my other characters...i also played a little Lau but he's so basic it's easier for me to play him then someone else.

if you consentrate on doing first [3][K]+[G], [6][P] and then (don`t think at it as a combo, think at it as an standalone BC) do [4][6][6][P][K], you should (with decent speed) have no probmlems with it, whatsoever. That help?

    This is soooooo insane...

But I've recently gotten a stick and started playin vf on it; it's really much more enjoyable (believe the hype).
On a pad the trouble was getting the bodycheck to come out, on a stick it's the elbow - doing the bodycheck quickly now on a stick after all that pad practice is just sweet as strawberrys...

    Re: This is soooooo insane...

for me its the way you hold an arcade stick and obviously the button lay out that really throws me. I'm used to having the conveniant shoulder buttons but not as precise control sometimes(akira's knee). And i really seem to have trouble doing angles with a stick like Aoi's [4][3][P]+[K]
