This is a teaser clip for a recent Toronto Third Strike Tournament. All I can say is that I'm blown away by what is being shown here. Whether you're a 3s fan or not, you should check it out nonetheless:

My friends and I were down in Toronto for the SF tourneys, and let me just say that it was fucking awesome watching the 3s tourney. This is a game I never play, but watching these guys go at it was truly inspiring. I just may take up the game yet.

It's really sad that these guys won't be going to b5 (as far as I know) to compete against the Japanese.

I haven't seen the clip yet, but let me just say that the finishing hit of the final match was just fucking brilliant -- truly the best ending to any tournament I've ever seen -- I won't say what it is just in case it's in the video... wouldn't want to ruin the suprise :)

I really wish I was there.... but fortunately, they will be posting some matches online soon.

As for B5, I'm still upset that 3S won't be there as a tournament event. With the power that is SRK and B5 being, well... B5... 3S has sunk low in popularity in many areas. It probably wasn't the most popular game by any means to begin with, but it had a good following as far as I can tell. Quite a portion of the competitive players decided to drop the game as a result of B5 and other major tournaments dropping the game.... Sure, they may not have been dedicated for the love of the game, but nonetheless they were still pushing the game on a competitive level. At least the Toronto scene has been vocal. Lately it sounds like 3S is way more popular than CvS at SHGL and some other arcades, but that's only what I've been hearing.

Bugs me to hell to hear "authoritative players" complaining that 3s is "way too slow" and what not... I'm probably just looking at the wrong angle or something.... Then again, VF3 is too slow for a lot of people too (I'm sure you all know what I mean here).

Music to my ears to say that the Toronto Tourney was inspiring for you Myke!
