1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Hi everyone I just picked up the brady guide on my lunch break. Doesnt seem to have anything like frame data or anything and it was only 16$. Let me know if you have any questions. It seems to have some useful strategy on each character and some of the combo's are detailed with a summary explaining thier use.

I bought it, and i think it sucks.

    1) no frame data

    2) quest item lists for shop items only (lol?)

    3) quest NPC info is lacking

You must play very high level VF if:

    1) You cannot find frame data on VFDC

2&3) You buy a guide to get info on quest mode or items

    It still sucks.

    4) nearly everything in the guide is well documented in the game itself

    5) the basic/general gameplay commands/tactics section is meager

There's barely anything documented in the game.

for what it is i think it's decent.

    1. it gives a basic overview of the fighting system in the dojo sections.

    2. it highlights best moves for individual characters at close, medium, and long range.

    3. shows damage for each move so you can determine if a move is worth learning. (input command for throws vs. damage you get)

    4. best finishing combos after certain moves.

    5. lists each move by class. (i hate scrolling through the command list in game)

things i would have liked to have seen.

    1. frames.

    2. character matchups. (i've seen this in almost every other brady guide).

    3. completed item and rival list.

    4. highlight character specific moves that cause ground bounce.

    5. highlight character specific throw setups.

    6. highlight setups that lead to nitaku.

but just wanted to say thanks to everyone who worked on the guide. it is pretty much what i expected and i've found a use for it in helping me to explore other characters.

What happned to the original Brady Guide thread? If you've read it you would understand that the authors wern't allowed to publish the Frame Data. That those who made the Black Book reserved the rights on it or something.

What do you expect really? It's a pretty solid guide from my standpoint. Released a couple days before the game but managed to have a couple pages dedicated to each character. Teaches a lot of must know basics for VF5 and has a wonderful glossary in it as well.

Didn't know that about the black book.

But before i get ostracised by the VF online community, let me break it down a little better than my crass posts above...

Glossary (2 pages: 2-3) - Glossaries are always nice.

Dojo 1/2 (12 pages: 4-15) - Also nice because it gives you a run down on all the general/common commands/tactics that everyone should at least understand.

    Character specific section (148 pages: 16-163) -

The overview/objective and combo parts are nice. Especially if you've just started playing a new character and, although you've fought against them many times, aren't too familiar with their inputs.

The move list part, which takes up about half of the entire section, is arguably useless. Since it lacks frame data (regardless of the reason), you're better off printing these charts from the internet or translated black book or whatever.

Quest Mode (43 pages: 164-206) - This entire section could be omitted from the guide and no one would care.

The Rivals - Very incomplete, and arguably useless to begin with.

Quest items - Incomplete and useless because it only lists items in the shop, which you can look up any time you want in-game.

The content of the guide is 204 pages. About 90 of those pages are worth keeping, the others can be truncated to keep it shorter and maybe reduce the price, you won't be reading them anyways. 90/204 is just shy of 50% which, if this were a classroom, would be an F lol
