"Hello, I'm Bryan, and I use the Bodycheck"

    "hi Bryan"

last night on Live I actually wrote a PM to a Lei player, apologizing for hitting him 2 or 3 times w/ evade bodychecks to his stances (been doing it since VF4, old habbit).

So, should we feel guilty? Should we take the attitude that this is Akira's "Burning Hammer" and use it?

It does make things a little easy (I feel he's really strong out of the box in this version) ... but at the same time it's SO satisfying haha

    thoughts?

No apologies needed, just showing some dash in back love is all!

I agree akiralove, Akira seems like he has an array of powerful moves out of the box and has some decent entry level combos for relative beginners like myself.

Although I'd say I'm surprised by the input difficulty of many of the new moves that produce high damage. As I still can't complete about 3 - 4 of his moves yet, and was expecting to walk his command input in about 60secs.

His mixup game felt stronger against the AI allowing for the occasional bodycheck(even for ringout on block), and I particularly like his [4][P][P], the new ability to use [3][3][P]+[K] for low shoulder hit, and the new jump mechanic into landing kick for hit throw.

I also think his general move list feels less linear by movement, although not necessarily by attack type.

I feel a Lau influence is also creeping in with the [2][1][4][P]+[G] and [K]+[G][3][P][P]+[K] follow up.

Games feels and looks brilliant, and the fast loading times completely stunned me.

I wouldn't feel bad about using it but the move feels too risky for my liking, i'd rather go for [3][3][P] or KNEE.

    CH [3][3][P]> [6][K][P]> [4][3][P][2] or [8]> [2][P]> [IMG][6][P] (on hit) [P] ...now that's when I start to feel guilty.

Noted. I'm trying this when I get home. What characters will this work on?

    Edit:

    [3][3][P]> [6][P]> [6][K][P]> [3][K]+[G][P][4][6][6][P]+[K] is my new guilty pleasure.

Just like in the vid TF posted, I think body checking has a lot of potential out of a successful side-step.

Although at the same execution frames, it feels like it hits in situations where knee/youhou would have been stopped.

I actually think I did more damage on a Jean player who was chargimg a kick. It looked like 60 percent

Tested in dojo it is 60% verses charge up move 140 damage

Thank You so much for this thread. I am practicing bodychecks at the moment, and it makes people stop & wonder "where the hell did half of my health bar go".

    Feels dirty. Feels GOOD.

    HAHA YES

    This move man.

I've tried all the characters, seen what they had to offer but none of them really clicked with me. I probably liked Brad the best because Muay Thai is relatively "sensible" and I can use some small degree of real knowledge and apply it to the game...but then I tried Akira out properly and went online...my opponent kept backing away and going for running attack mixups when he was near death...then in the deciding round he started playing like that from the start. It's probably nothing to you guys but I'm pretty shit so dealing with this tactic felt like a buig deal.

I smacked him about to ~40% and ate some mean combos myself to the point I was almost dead. Then he came running at me. I could smell the dropkick in the air, evaded and banged out 466P+K faster than I had ever done before.

    Disconnected.

Lol! Did the same to a Jacky player a few weeks ago. After the the match he sent me a message expressing his dispproval with my victory. I kindly reminded him it wasn't a good idea to run straight at akira with his crazy ass flying kicks.

I'm not the strongest akira player, so i have to punish at every opportunity so no guilt here. Just curious, anyone else get joy out of bodychecking someone and seeing them just lay there on the ground for a few seconds? Not sure if they just can't get up right away, or they're not getting up because they're too busy contemplating wtf happened to their life bar. Always makes me smile a bit.

its been a while since anyone posted here, so thought i would keep this thread alive since it appears my bodychecking addiction has worsened. just the other night, i was fighting a brad player and bodychecked him twice in the last round. these were nice, low damage, "stop flailing and letting me sidestep" warnings. he sent me a message telling me that move "pisses me off" and that he wished i had won using "normal moves". L....O....L.

i recently hit a kage that thought it was fun to run back and slide in for a low stun. last round, max damage. even i couldnt believe how much it had chipped off. he decided to run to the nearest wall and jump out.

any more bodycheck related hatemail or stories?
