No one here may not care about this but I just wanted to know, is anyone here good at doing attack reversals. I think I'm fairly good at doing them. I can at least pull off like 6 or 7 of them in a match because I have a good idea as to where the attack is coming from. I just wanted to know if anyone else here spends time trying to get better at this besides me.

yes i consider myself pretty decent at reversals and try and use them a decent amount(with Aoi) when i use Pai i dont seem to take advantage of them as much cuz she has more combos and floats.

Are you talking about humans or AI ? I noticed that the AI in evo will cancel a move when you input a reversal unless they are in a string. Humans however dont know for shure if one is coming, but if you make a habit of doing them youll get eaten alive. For example , when I fight as Jeff vs my freinds Lei Fei, he usually goes for the auto reversal stance after the second attack going into the 3rd. So ill cancell out and do the front backbreaker instead.

well thats a bit different than a regular reversal cuz you can see that coming easier...I do notice that when you just stand there and reverse against the CPU they do like a cancel to crouch animation kinda, but thats only when you input it way too early in anticipation.

Well I don't try it against humans that much but for those people that like to hit low a lot at the arcades they definitely eat Akira's low reversals a lot. But maybe for just the first match, after that they usually try a different approach.
The AI doesn't learn at all, especially in Ver.C. I remember hitting Lion with about 10 or so reversals in just one match against him, Jack was predictable too. Always doing that one combo [1][P][K][K][K]and[1][P][K][K][K][2][K], you always had at least a 50/50 chance of getting it right. Okay I just wanted an opinion is all. thanks

Easiest trick to get a reversal is to guard against [P][P][P] combo and catch the last or the second hit. Vanessa is very good at this. She really does good damage with her reversals. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif Another trick is to catch the reversal after evading your opponent's attack! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

This is going to make me look really stupid, but fuck it. The VF4Evo manual says that to perform reversals, you press the direction and [P]+[K]. It's not working for me. I'm playing as Sarah, and I've spent the past week in Training mode trying to reverse Lau's high attacks. It just isn't working. Am I retarded?

Not retarded -- you just need to know what characters can reverse and which can't.

The traditional reversers are (from strongest to weakest)
    Aoi
    Akira
    Pai
    Vanessa
    Wolf
    Kage
    Brad

Sarah, Lau, Goh, and Jeff have jack.
the others have some reversal-like things.

    The commands are:
[4][P]+[K] to reverse a high attack
[1][P]+[K] to reverse a mid attack
[2][P]+[K] to reverse a low attack

Again - not all of the above can do all of the above.
    consult ye old move list.

Also, here's some times you can get a reversal:
Low reversal after Kage's [9][K]+[G] if they're dumb enough to do it
Any charge attack if they're dumb enough to do it, especially Lei Fei's Sen Shippo.
low reversal after a large portion of the non-throw-counterable moves. Kage's upper, Akira's your mama's pussy, etc.

Offtopic and sorry to nitpick /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif but I'd say Goh has a fairly good sabaki game which is 'reversal like'.

In fact I'd say it's excellent.

Nah, that's fair game. I teetered back and forth but I think everything of his is straight-sabaki->throw moves. You're right though, they might as well be reversals.

No worries. It's not working because Sarah doesn't have any reversals!

She does however have a sabaki, im sure that would work well in quest mode, were [2_][P] is used way too fukin' much. Sometimes I can understand it but not after every non throw counterable move. I know that people really do fight loke this but having an endless number of them in quest mode is rediculous.

That's when I whip out the [3]+[K][K][K] and have them crying like babies as their heads smash against the wall. Serves 'em right!
