I watched anime in college. I stopped right before moving here... ironic, no?
From what I can recall (haven't watched shit besides Kamikakushi in 6 years)...

1: Akira -- I don't care what people say. This was, and still is, amazing, and I was a DIEHARD anime fan. I even bought an amiga to fan-subtitle. Story, soundtrack, the whole shebang.
[The rest are in no particular order]
    2: Maison Ikkoku
    3: Please Save My Earth
    4: Gunbuster
    5: Gatchaman (hey, I'm old!)
    6: Time Stranger
7: Space Cruiser Yamato (see the part where I say I'm old)
    8: Record of Lodoss War
9: Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (seeing this in the Japanese theatre helped)
    10: Wings of Honeamis

Anime that I could never get into no matter how much I tried:

    1: Sailor Moon
    2: Macross

    Rurouni Kenshin (OVA only)
    Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 (OVA)
    Nadia (TV)

    5: Gatchaman (hey, I'm old!)

A couple years ago, I saw two clips of new Gatchaman. It's sponsored by NTT East and voiced by SMAP members. Do you know if it's just a NTT promo thing or did they actually made a new Gatchaman series? It would be really cool if they actually made it because it looks so bad ass.

Yes, I saw this, on one of the big screens in Shibuya. It was VERY cool. Unfortunately, it was just a promo. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif I'm not much on SMAP, but I do enjoy watching Shingo learn English on TV.

This is probably the best thread to ask this:

I just bought Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust and absolutely love it.
HOw does this movie compare to the first VHD? Does the first one have as much action and is it as dramatic as well?

What do you guys think of the new Ninja Scroll tv series that was released on DVD a couple weeks ago? Is it as good as themovie?

I've not seen any anime in a while, but I thought Angel's Egg (very rare LD if anyone here is a collector) blue the doors off of Vampire Hunter D. Very, very trippy movie.

the art style in Ninja scroll is not classic Madhouse look, and to me, it has dropped down... There are some CG effects thrown in here and there... and the pacing is kinda fresh... fight scenes in the first disc is pretty good, as are the characters.... and if you're a perv, you'll be disappointed, though there is a docile rape scene (yep, contradictory indeed.)

But all I can say is that I'm disappointed with the new angular style Madhouse has adopted.

I've not even seen 10 anima films, but Akira rock's as does the Street Fighter manga (the first one to come out). Ghost in the shell=The Matrix, so that should be mentioned as well. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

That's why I hate the Matrix... it's so overrated. It stole the whole concept of Ghost in the shell, why hiring Wu Ping to do the choreography, which was the exact same fight choreography done by Wu Ping in Gordon Chan's Fist of Legend. The Matrix is a fist of legend/ghost in the shell rip off!!! American cinema now, is ripping off alot of Asian ideas. Funny, in the "making of Matix" extra on the DVD, the director mentions "2 movies that inflenced the Matrix..." but didn't mention the exact names of them.
