Akira's Yoho...

I'm trying to implement this move in my game as it is a great combo starter... any tips from Akira players as when to pull this move off?

if they're at a disadvantage, and you anticipate an evade, crouch dash forward to draw a failed evade, then simply input [3]+[P] for the yoho, which (correct me if i'm wrong) is guranteed after a failed evade.

If you're good at reading your opponent (or predicting the computer), you could yoho whenever they go for a throw. Good luck.

I find that the yoho is most useful after a successful evade against a semi-slow move or when the opponent whiffs a move. It takes a bit of practice to be able to do with consistency this but I feel it is worth the practice. You can also back dash to cause your opponent to whiff a move and you can then counter with a slow move like the yoho.

Since the move is both hit and throw counterable, don't throw it out too often...or try not to at least. When you DO get a good hit on a yoho make sure you do at least 70 odd damage (depending on weight, char and hit obviously). Knee is arguably a better starter as its only hit counterable but shrm can be used well too, after [2][P] or [4][3][P] say as long as you don't abuse it. Just don't try to rely too much on yoho as a combo starter as Akira has many, MANY combos that don't require yoho as a start.

Knee is throw counterable as well, but needs a quicker throw input.

What? Throws are faster than hits period. If you can score a hit you can score a throw.

I'm sure he meant to say throw counterable... -10 i believe.

I usually use the shrm as my combo starter like as you said after the [2_]+[P]. After that I add in a [2_]+[P],mdf-dblplm. Sometimes I use [K]+[G],[P] to finish it off instead of the dbl-plm. I know a Dragon Lancer is suppose to be a better combo ender but I play on a pad and it's hard to pull that move off consistently. I'll get me the stick soon so I can get better at playing this game and hopefully come to one of the tournaments. Thanks for all the tips!

    BTW VF4:Evo rocks!

Actually Akira's knee is 9-frames, and only throw counterable.

He meant -10 as in -10 on block. Throw takes 8 frames, hits all take longer than 10 frames so at -10 you can guard any attack.

The way LM_Akira put it threw me off /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif, when he said Knee is only hit counterable. For some reason at that moment I thought since he said it's only hit counterable then he meant it's not throw-counterable. That's why I said it's throw-counterable "as well" meaning as well as the Yoho. Now that I look at it though I am sure he meant only throw-counterable.

As for the quicker input, I meant to say that you have to react quickly if you want to throw a blocked knee, or at least it was more like that in Version C (because it was -9 rather than -10 like Shadow said). In evo it recovers 1 frame slower.

speaking of -10 frams (kinda off topic) are there only two 10 frame attacks? as far as i know, there's vanessa's [3]+[P] (which has such low range that I doubt it could counter a knee), and sarah's back turned [P] (which is a null issue in attacking after blocking a move).. is that all?

And if you're planning on getting a stick, you're doing the right thing in taking time to learn when to do moves instead of how to do them. Believe you me, there'll be plenty of time dedicated to that on the stick /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yes sorry my bad. I meant to say throw counterable only. Thats its advantage over yoho when used as a float starter. /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I usually throw a yoho just when the fight starts, and do atleast 75-90 damage, then follow up with a light down attack if the opponent doesn't get up. Usually done after an evade too /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For me entering the Knee is a big risk big reward kinda thing /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif, so when fighting against aoi or pai--when i get a counterhit, i ALWAYS do [3][3][P], [3][3][P], [2_][4][6][P] which does just as much damage as [3][3][P], [P], [K]+[G](release after one frame), [2_][4][6][P]. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Humans will never fall for a Yoho at the start of every round. Same for SDE etc...

Knee is safer than Yoho if blocked.

I hate Akira's Knee... why does it have to be so damn hard! arrgghh! Most I was able to pull it off was 3 times... <_<

In VF4 it was even harder as there wasn't a [K]+[G] move to fall back on so if you messed it up you ended up whiffing a high kick. Akira is a very technical character, its just the way he is.

Imagine that it would be done [6][K], then you´ll see.

Yeah man... I hated doing his knee in VF4... that's I never did it during the matches.

Izha: if it was that easy I'd love Akira even more!
