I found this out when my daughter was playing:

She said "Mommy I got another orb item for Aoi" and I dismissed it because I knew she already had the silver kabuki wig. See, she was playing VS with my High King Lei, who had all the orbs and using the 'memory card switch-scam' to keep getting more orbs. Then, she got another full set, and I was watching at the time when the orbs did that combiney-thing. I don't know if it was because we were using the VS method to get 'em, or the fact that she had like every item but 2, or maybe even her rank (she was a Grand Master) but sure enough, she used the orb technique to gain EVERY ITEM.

...As a couple of funny side notes:

    1. This occurrence forced me to stop denying the existence of Aoi's platinum earrings.
    2. My daughter is 5 YEARS OLD! /versus/images/icons/shocked.gif She eclipsed me @ Virtua Fighter 4 after we had the game for 2 months.

everyone (i think) knows about the orb trick, but as for your daughter, well, that's kind of eird, sure she isn't mashing?

No, she's not mashing. I think it's pretty hard to mash at all with this game( particularly with Aoi). I'm a veteran Tekken player, see, and this is the first VF game I've ever owned. Obviously, same goes for my girl. We both had a hard time winning at all in VF when we first started playing. We adjusted, and she does much better than me. I can do about two reversals with Aoi, but she can do almost all of them.

A point to mention though, is that she seems to have some superb luck as far as Ranking Matches go. When she surpassed me in rank, I figured it was because she had more time to sit down with the game, but then she quickly left me in the dust, so I got curious and checked out her win ratio and noticed that she's fought FAR less matches than either me or my husband. She doesn't do the quit thing either.

So my theory is either she's got some supernatural luck with ranking matches OR the whole quitting thing really DOES make you get less matches with the CP's you need to fight.

Because me and my husband both 'cheat'. /versus/images/icons/wink.gif He uses the X button (endlessly! it's the only button he uses and he's high king) with his Lei, and I use Aoi's jumpy-thing ([8]and R1 I think, or is it R2?) continuosly. And we both quit out of losing matches. We do all that, and our 5 year old is better than us. The only 'cheat' she ever used is the orb item thing and that's because to her, Aoi is a custom-made Barbie doll. She spends half the time messing around with her outfits/items. /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

The family that plays VF together, stays together /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

I wish someday I have a family of my own like that. Best wishes.

About the platinum earrings. You get them from ph34r me in Kumite mode. Under the Blue Kabuki Wig (think it's the 2p outfit) she has a pair of them. So they exists, it's just that the item FAQ here on VFDC hasn't been updated lately.

actually this doesn't work for all items ... I'm missing 1 item for my lei fei and I have a full set of spheres (I have all 7 spheres on my character, they no longer change into an item they just sit there looking pretty) , and no matter what I do or how many times I collect all the spheres I never get the last item I need (I think it's cuz the item I'm missing is a kumite only item (I'm high king and the character with the item is like a 7th kyu so I have no hope in ever getting that last item /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif
